Ok - this one doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as the rest of the Christmas Carol, which is probably why it didn’t make the final cut – however I do want to provide you with a gift this Christmas.
I want to share a filter I like to use - which I think is great for all business owners.
And if you are in the mood for making New Years resolutions, adopting this as an organiser for work (and sometimes life) can lead to some great and organised outcomes!
For those who want to read more into it, this tool is called the Eisenhower Matrix, but in keeping it simple, I like to call it the 4 D’s.

This matrix is presented in many different ways (just google it), and to use it - you essentially take each task you have - and place it on the matrix, based on the urgency and the importance of the task.
For me - when I run the tasks I have through this matrix, I easily reduce clutter (Delete), re-allocate tasks that I don’t need to do (Delegate) and most importantly - schedule (Decide) those things that are the most important things of all.
I rarely like to play in the Do section, as this generally means that I have not scheduled the important things effectively, and now they have become urgent. When too many things become urgent - mistakes happen, results are rushed and disappointment is often the result.
If you are reading this thinking that life is way too busy then I absolutely recommend you give this one a go.
Finally, as 2025 draws to a close I want to thank all of our clients for supporting our business this year. My team have been working hard this year, making adjustments to the way we run our business to provide an overall smoother experience for you all and we hope to continue that work into 2026.
Merry Christmas.
Mark Dunsmuir.
